The electroluminescent EL backlight will illuminate the dial with an optically pleasing soft blue light, simply push button and the light will stay on for 3 seconds. Additionally, the ambient light powered non-battery Swiss super luminous hands & markers will glow continuously in all light conditions. This design approach is superior as timing is driven by a separate battery, the EL function has a dedicated second battery and the luminous is not dependent to a battery.
